Saarinen Executive Side Chair - Wood Legs

In the 1930s, Eero Saarinen introduced a series of gracefully contoured plywood chairs, which would later win the 1940 MoMA-sponsored Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition. This endeavor inspired Saarinen to create a chair that would offer exceptional comfort through its shell design alone, rather than relying on additional cushioning. The elegant and sculptural Executive Side Chair, along with its counterpart, the Executive Armchair, were the outcome of this vision. These designs garnered recognition, including the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award and the West Germany Federal Award for Industrial Design, solidifying their status as iconic pieces.
