Saarinen Executive Side Chair - Steel Legs

Eero Saarinen's work in the 1930s, including a range of organically-shaped plywood chairs, was highly influential. These chairs won the MoMA-sponsored 1940 Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition and served as inspiration for Saarinen to create a chair that offered exceptional comfort through its shell design alone, without the need for additional cushions. The result was the luxurious and sculptural Executive Side Chair and its counterpart, the Executive Armchair. This design was recognized with prestigious awards, including the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award and the West Germany Federal Award for Industrial Design, cementing its status as an iconic piece of furniture design.
