Saarinen Executive Leather Side Chair - Wood Legs

Eero Saarinen's innovative approach to furniture design in the 1930s resulted in a collection of elegantly shaped plywood chairs. These chairs garnered acclaim by winning the prestigious 1940 Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition sponsored by MoMA. Inspired by this success, Saarinen aimed to create chairs that offered outstanding comfort solely from their shell design, rather than relying on additional furnishing. The result was the luxurious and sculptural Executive Side Chair and its counterpart, the Executive Armchair. Their exceptional design earned recognition, including the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award and the West Germany Federal Award for Industrial Design.
