Saarinen Executive Armchair with Casters

The Executive Armchair with Casters features a five-point base with pneumatic height adjustment and swiveling capabilities, accompanied by twin-wheel casters suitable for carpeted surfaces. Initially constructed from fiberglass, it underwent an update to polyurethane while retaining the classic seat's original feel. This enduring seat showcases a molded shell that subtly flexes with the sitter, complemented by a contoured plywood seat.

Distinct from Saarinen's sculptural furniture, these fluid lines were not prevalent in his architectural designs until the 1950s. However, when observing the dome-shaped glass wall of MIT's Kresge Auditorium, a parallel can be drawn to the same curvature found in the back of his Executive Chair.
