Hans Wegner Circle Chair

The Circle Chair, an iconic creation by Hans J. Wegner, encapsulates his enduring innovative spirit and unwavering dedication to design even in his later career stages. Wegner's vision of crafting a chair based on the elegant simplicity of a circle was a longstanding aspiration realized when he completed the design at the age of 72. This visionary project presented significant challenges for PP Mbler's workshop, pushing the boundaries of what was achievable in furniture construction. Master craftsmen Søren Holst Pedersen and Henry Fisker devised a specialized machine to achieve the chair's wooden construction, a feat Wegner initially doubted was feasible.

Despite its size, the Circle Chair harmonizes Wegner's characteristic aesthetic with comfort and adaptability. Its lightweight design and practicality render it easily movable. This creation solidifies Wegner's place among distinguished artists who maintained both consistency and innovation throughout their careers, cementing the Circle Chair as a pinnacle of his enduring legacy.
